August 8th was entirely dedicated to excursions to the main attractions of the beautiful island of Bali. Students visited Garuda Wisnu Kencana, Uluwatu Temple, and Kuta Beach. The trip became a reset after the exciting presentations and work on solving environmental problems. But the next day, the students were not without work. Invited specialists in the field of feed production and ecology worked with the students in workshops.
Ulyana Karpovich, a Russian specialist in the production of granulated feed for farm animals and poultry, told the students about the structure of a feed mill. She presented useful material about the operation of any feed production facility, showed samples of finished products and raw materials brought from Russia. In addition, she raised the topic of climate change and the direct impact of agriculture on this process. After the presentation, the students successfully solved three mathematical problems related to animal husbandry and waste processing and shared their countries’ experiences in the field of animal and poultry feed production.
Dr. Yulianto, in his master class, touched on the no less important topic of the uncontrolled spread of plastic waste around the world. We learned that now almost every object and living organism, including the human body, contains microplastic particles. The uncontrolled dumping of garbage by humans on the streets and into rivers leads to the pollution of the world’s oceans with plastic at unimaginable rates. Dr. Yulianto asked the students to propose their solutions to this large-scale environmental problem. The ideas from each team of students will certainly be effective, it only remains to put them into practice.
Tomorrow, all the participants of the game will again go on excursions to the sights of the island and we have very little time left before the arrival of the judges and the announcement of the results of the competition.
