The government of Vietnam is planning to change the fees for industrial wastewater treatment. The corresponding decree on environmental protection fees will take effect in 2021 and is going to engance the fee from 1.5 up to 4 mln VND (appx. $63.8 and $170) per year for the establishments that discharge from 10 to 20 m³ of wastewater per day. Companies with the volume of 5 to 10 m³ will pay 3 mln VND; less than 5 m³ – 2.5 vln VND.
In case a company discharges more than 20 m³, it will pay the fixed price 4 mln VND and additional fee depending on the pollutants in its wastewater. Those fees range from 2000 to 20 mln VND per kg. The highest fee is for mercury.
It is also stated that the fee for domestic wastewater treatment will be 10% of the water price.
