Yulianto Suteja
Yulianto Suteja has earned a bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degree in marine science, specializing in marine debris research in coastal and regional areas since 2018. His expertise in this field has led to frequent invitations as a consultant and expert on marine debris contamination projects, ranging from local to national levels across Indonesia. Over the past two years, his work has concentrated on emerging pollutants (microplastics) in Jakarta, Indonesia’s capital. He actively collaborates with the Indonesian Ministry of Environment and Forestry, playing a crucial role in nationwide microplastic monitoring efforts. Yulianto is also deeply involved in investigating microplastic contamination in various environmental components, including water, sediment, biota, and marine food-based products. His research in this area aims to understand the full extent of microplastic pollution’s impact on marine ecosystems and human health. By studying how microplastics accumulate in water bodies and sediments, Yulianto is shedding light on the long-term environmental consequences of this emerging pollutant.
Yulianto’s expertise extends beyond marine pollution research. He is actively involved in environmental assessments and provides crucial input on documents related to port development, dredging operations, and land reclamation projects. His role ensures that these projects comply with environmental regulations, highlighting his dedication to addressing both emerging and ongoing environmental challenges in Indonesia.
